Prof Emma Duncan is a Senior Endocrinologist at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Professor at Queensland University of Technology and The University of Queensland.
Prof Duncan is fascinated by the human skeleton; bone disease has formed the bulk of her research. She is interested in the genetics of heritable endocrine disorders, such as MODY [maturity-onset diabetes of the young], phaeochromocytoma/paraganglioma, thyroid cancer and other endocrine tumours. Prof Duncan also has broad experience in gene mapping, including genetic epidemiology, linkage, and genome-wide association studies.
Prof Duncan is currently the immediate past president of the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society. She contributes to conference and governance activities nationally and internationally and is a strong advocate for fairness towards women in the clinical and research workforce.
