  • Dr. Remmers leads the Complex Disease Genomics Group in the Inflammatory Disease Section of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). She received her B.S. in Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Maryland and her post-doctoral training at the State University of New York, Stony Brook and in the Inflammatory Joint Diseases Section of NIAMS at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. In 2002, she joined the Genetics and Genomics Branch of NIAMS, focusing her research on genetically complex rheumatic diseases with the aim to understand disease processes in ways that will permit informed and novel treatments. Dr. Remmers joined the Inflammatory Disease Section of the NHGRI in 2010 and she was appointed Associate Investigator in 2016.
