Dr Debashish Danda is the founding chair of Department of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology at India’s premiere Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore. He is currently the President of Indian Rheumatology Association and President elect of APLAR. He also have served 2 terms as Editor in Chief of IJRD, the APLAR journal and succeeded in bringing up its impact factor from 0.7 to 2.6/2.42 (latest). His special areas of interest include Takayasu arteritis, Sjogren Syndrome and Spondyloarthritis.He has 200+ publications including 145 pubmed indexed ones. His H index is 20. He is involved in several collaborative studies within and beyond APLAR region. His training include 3 years of advanced training in Rheumatology in teaching hospitals in Adelaide, apart from 3 year DM training in India. He also had been visiting scientist as Greenberg scholar at OMRF, USA, Linneus -Palme exchange teacher at Karolinska , Stockholm, senior training fellow at MGH, Boston, visiting scholar at Nuffield orthopedic centre, Oxford. He had delivered guest lectures at Mayo clinic, University of Pittsburg,and several other top centres in the world. He was awarded the best basic poster award in combined Australia and New Zealand rheumatology association meet at Christ Church in 2002, Indian rheumatology association oration in 2007, Keynote speaker at New England rheumatism society meet in 2012, Annual oration of Indian Geriatric society in 2011. Dr Danda also was awarded FRCP (London) and Fellow of National academy of Medical Sciences (India), the highest medical qualification by Government of India.
