Anna-Marie Fairhurst received her PhD in Pharmacology at the William Harvey Research Institute at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London in 2002. From London she moved to the NIH, USA to undertake a postdoc studying systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with Peter Lipsky. In 2004, she continued studying SLE at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX, with Ward Wakeland. Anna-Marie joined A*STAR, Singapore in 2010. Her team is focused on researching the mechanisms that maintain an effective balance between protection from infections, cancer and autoimmunity. Recently her lab has focused on the endosomal innate toll-like receptors (TLR) in the regulation of the immune response. Her lab has made significant advances in understanding the role of TLR7 in the development of glomerulonephritis.
