Do you have an interest in biomarkers, data-linkage, multi-omics, epidemiology and other biobank-enabled, big data projects in adult/paediatric rheumatology?
Do you have ideas for important research questions but lack the time and resources to:
Recruit impactful numbers of adult or child participants with rare diseases,
Collect, process and store their biospecimens according to best practices, and
Safely and securely gather longitudinal, real world data, including patient-reported, medical record, state and federal health/administrative (MBS/PBS) data over many years?
Do you find multisite ethics and governance approvals too prohibitive and wish there was a simpler approval process so you could spend more time on the actual research?
So do we! Our team are trying to enable and streamline large-scale ‘big rheumatology data’ research in Australia. Please come along to hear the significant progress being made towards our national data-integrated biobanking network represented by the merge of the long-running Australian Rheumatology Association Database (ARAD) biologic patient registry with the Australian Arthritis & Autoimmune Biobank Collaborative (A3BC) and close collaboration with the Australian and New Zealand Childhood Arthritis Risk factor Identification STudY (ANZ-CLARITY).
Our SIG is open to all and will be of interest to anyone involved in rheumatology research from a clinical, academic, industry or consumer perspective.
If you can’t make it please feel free to come and chat with us at the ARA stand during the conference.
